My grandsons were pilots
When they were only two.
They would take off and land.
Amazing things they’d do.
They had a beauty of a plane
Of a fast and sleek design.
It was a single engine plane
The first of its design.
Into the air it would go.
It would fly up and down.
They would wave to passersby
Who were looking from the ground.
When their mom came in for nap
They would have to stop.
The plane was just a cardboard box
Their engine was Grand Pop
As they have grown older
What a joy in them I’ve found.
I think it’s safe for me to say
They like having Grandpa around.
Children’s children are the crown of old men.
