Red, White, and the Blue

The red man had roamed for centuries

Among the hills and vales;

Hunting deer and wild birds

As they camped along their trails.

The white man had fled their homeland

And cast their hopes upon the sea.

They came to live in a strange new land.

They hoped they would be free.

When Lord Dunmore called for war

These met by the blue Ohio in 1774.

Point Pleasant was the place marked on his map.

Colonists didn't know it would be a British trap.

Col. Andrew Lewis led his men

Of strong Virginia stock.

The Indians were led by that noble man,

Their great chief called Cornstalk.

The battle raged all day.

Many lives were lost.

This battle was for freedom.

Blood would be the cost.

The shots heard by the blue Ohio

Echoed through the hills.

With the battle won, the war begun

To rid of England's ills.

The cry, "To Arms! We all must fight

To end the tyranny.

If we would win, we all must pay

The price for liberty."

We remember The Battle of Point Pleasant

When our country was made new.

It was a picture of the struggle portrayed in

Red, White, and Blue.
