I came early to the garden expecting there to find
Soldiers standing guard o’re the tomb of a friend of mine.
But as I stepped into the garden, where Christ the Lord was laid
I caught a glimpse of something that made me so afraid.
For the tomb was standing open; our Lord’s body it was gone.
It was a desperate feeling. Now what could go so wrong?
Then I heard someone behind me, It was to me he bade.
It was the Lord Jesus saying, “ It is I be thou not afraid.”
He spoke such words of comfort in that happy quiet hour.
He told of his great victory over death, over sin, and all it’s power.
I stood there in amazement. My heart was in accord.
I am fraught with full assurance that we have a loving Lord.
O I felt so unworthy to in his presence be,
Yet there was that blessed assurance that from sin we are set free.
Now as I stand there in the garden in the early morning light,
I hear the birds start singing and nothing can affright.
The song we’re singing is that message loud and clear.
We have a risen Savior. His presence is so near.
O I am glad the tomb was open where Christ had laid;
Now alive forever for Whosoever is saved.
O yes he’s gone to heaven at the Father’s right hand;
Interceding for us all; completing his great plan.
O yes I’m glad the tomb was open where Christ they had laid.
Now alive forever for Whosoever is saved.!!!
