Mother

Elizabeth was a farm girl raised from W.VA. soil.

She spent her days toiling like a man and not a girl.

Her Mother and Father had the old world ways.

She learned to be an thrifty girl and saved throughout her days.

She never was a waster but her family's needs she heeded.

She generously gave to them the things they truly needed.

Her needs and wants were few indeed, a simple life she shared.

To her people mattered and they knew she really cared.

She knew the family history of every girl and boy.

To have such a memory was a blessing and a joy.

Oh how wonderful her stories of life in days gone by

Why you could sit and listen and the hours they would fly.

Her poetry was lovely in verse that was her own.

She would write for hours in a quiet place alone.

Songs to give her courage when life was hard to bear

Words that would lift her heart up to God in prayer.

What will this world say about this woman so fair?

One who will do her part any time and anywhere.

That she is loved by family and by friends both far and near.

Elizabeth is special is the words that we will hear.

Now she has been gathered to her home in heaven's land,

Like those West Virginia hills, so majestic and so grand.

We contemplate the beauty of such a loving soul

And commit her to her Father who is always in control.

Matthew11:28 (KJV)

Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy,

And I will give you rest.
