Man baptizes with water.
Jesus baptizes with the Spirit.
Our baptism is of God.
Let the believer hear it.
By the Spirit we die to sin.
By the Spirit we’re made holy.
By the Spirit we arise
To serve God’s Son only.
We are of God in Jesus Christ.
It’s God who chose the lowly.
No flesh should glory in his sight.
He purifies us wholly.
“There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.”
I Peter 3:21 NKJV
Antitype: one that is foreshadowed by or identified with an earlier symbol or type.
Baptism means cleansing. In the Old Testament things were separated for God with a cleansing by animal blood.
John the Baptist cleansed the people with water when they confessed and repented of their sin as the answer of a good conscience toward God.
Jesus baptised with the Holy Spirit. This is the reality of our complete cleansing from sin with his own blood.
Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Revelation 1:5-6 NKJV
You are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
Romans 8:9-11 NKJV
