There was a disciple in Joppa
Who believed in Jesus’ name.
This maker of garments and coats
Among widows had acclaim.
This disciple was full of good works.
And gave offerings to the needy.
When her illness led to death
The Church’s action was speedy.
The disciples sent for Peter
Who was in a town nearby.
When he came to the upper room
The widows began to cry.
Peter quickly put them out
And he began to pray.
He said, “Tabitha arise.”
Her eyes opened right away.
With his hand he lifted her.
He presented this woman alive.
Many believed in the Lord.
It caused the Church to thrive.
At Joppa there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which is translated Dorcas. This woman was full of good works and charitable deeds which she did.
