Cups come from England,
China, and Nepal.
Some are very big.
Others are very small.
They are made fancy;
Fashioned out of clay.
Their beauty is very fine.
We put them on display.
God is the Potter.
Jesus fixes cups for him.
One day we were marred
And filled with awful sin.
We were proud of our outside
But inside we were corrupt.
Man looks on the outside
But God looks in the cup.
The blood of Christ can cleanse us
Whiter than the snow.
If we receive Christ by faith,
A clean cup we may know.
God will fill our cup
With mercy, love, and grace
When we come to Jesus
And put him in first place.
Matthew 23:25-26
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. You blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.
1 John 1:9-10
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Psalms 23:5-6
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies: you anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
